ORIGINS OF THE MINERAL
The word “pyrite” refers to iron pyrite, which must be differentiated from copper pyrite, called chalcopyrite. It was also called “fool’s gold” because its color resembled gold. Extraordinary in more than one way, pyrite exists in its natural state in the form of perfect cubes which make it a completely unique mineral.
Very common on the Earth's surface, pyrite is found almost everywhere, and even in the south of France. Most pyrites come from China, although they are quite fragile. Those from Spain or Peru will be of much better quality. Its sedimentary formation reveals pyrite with all kinds of other minerals, including hematite and blende. A firestone, pyrite is found in many ancient practices, because it produces a spark when rubbed. More recently, it was used for radio receivers in the 20th century, and for solar panels in recent decades.
Its chemical composition consists mainly of iron and sulfur, with traces of copper, zinc, silver, nickel, cobalt and titanium. Its high sulfur content makes it a significant resource for the chemical industry, which uses it to manufacture sulfuric acid.
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Pyrite has a warming action for all cold people, in the physical and even psychological sense. It surprisingly resolves joint problems (rheumatism...), but also bronchitis, colds, flu... You can also think about it in the event of poor digestion linked to the cold.
ENERGY PROPERTIES
The singularity of pyrite lies in the two elements constituting it. On the one hand, “fire” with a high sulfur content, and its golden, warming appearance. On the other hand, the “metal” at the heart of the crystal system, forming cubes and providing great structure and remarkable anchoring.
This surprising combination will suit particular situations, for example in the event of an ambitious project requiring the development of solidity and enthusiasm. In association with fluorite, it will allow you to see more clearly, and to move forward with astonishing concentration, individually or in a group. We can link pyrite to the 3rd chakra, and therefore to the structure of the personality. Like others, it will serve as a stone of protection thanks to the solid strength it brings.
PRACTICAL
We will think of pyrite for the identity crises of adolescents who need a strong anchor and particular help in building their personality. Adults who may have missed this crucial stage of their development will also benefit. It is also recommended for nervous, anxious people who lack confidence, or even physical strength.
For people who are already very structured, it will promote flexibility and understanding. For all projects requiring a clear mind, we will associate it with fluorite. To treat poor blood circulation and iron deficiency, consider combining it with hematite. For the stomach, we will associate it with citrine, and for the pancreas, with blende. Be careful when wearing this stone next to the skin, because pyrite leaves traces of iron.
