ORIGINS OF THE MINERAL
This stone is so called because of Labrador, the Canadian province where it was discovered in the 18th century. We especially appreciate it for the play of colors it can give. It forms in an upper layer of the earth's crust and includes two crystallizations caused by a radical change in pressure and temperature: that of an aluminum silicate rich in sodium, and that of an aluminum silicate rich in calcium .
The beautiful colors and this iridescent effect that we see on the outside of the stone are also found on the inside. Stones from Finland, which are highly sought after, will have the most beautiful reflections, but in general labradorite comes from Madagascar, Australia, the United States and Russia.
