ORIGINS OF THE MINERAL
Cyanite, also called kyanite, is a blue stone with a translucent shine, often confused with sapphire. It is a still little-known stone, symbol of harmony and self-knowledge.
The name kyanite comes from the Greek " kuanos " which means cyan in reference to the beautiful blue color of the stone.
It was in 1790 that the Saxon geologist Abraham Gottlob proposed adopting the name kyanite to designate the blue stone. Cyan is one of the three primary colors along with magenta and yellow. Ten years later, a French mineralogist, René Hauy, proposed the name kyanite. Mixture of the Greek "di" which means "two" and "stenos" which means "strength" in reference to its variable hardness depending on the axis, a unique characteristic of this blue mineral.
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
The virtues of kyanite stone act mainly on the central nervous system, controls essential vital functions: the brain, hormonal glands, eyes, nose, ears.
