ORIGINS OF THE MINERAL
Already present in Antiquity, fluorite takes its name from the Latin “ fluere ” which means “to flow”. Today, there are deposits all over the world, but most fluorites come from China, the United States, Mexico, Russia and South Africa. France also has some deposits in its mountain ranges, notably in Auvergne, Haute-Savoie and the Vosges.
This stone is hypothermal in formation. It is present in all kinds of industries: nuclear, chemistry, optical science (for the manufacture of lenses, microscopes, telescopes, etc.), dental surgery, and glassmaking. It can appear in different colors and would even be the stone with the most varieties, due to the presence of various chemical components, such as iron, oxygen, nitrogen, silver... Fluorite has a another particularity: its exemplary balance with an equal share of fluoride and calcium (50% each). It has many other remarkable characteristics, including its resistance to very high temperatures (up to more than 1500 degrees).
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Fluorite helps support a person's structural and bone system. It will also strengthen teeth and reduce inflammation. It will have a beneficial effect in cases of sclerosis and stiffness, particularly for rheumatism, arthritis... in the elderly.
