ORIGINS OF THE MINERAL
If black tourmaline is mainly known as a protective stone, all the other tourmalines, much rarer, show the extraordinary richness of this mineral. Imported from Sri Lanka by the Dutch at the beginning of the 18th century, tourmaline owes its name to the Sinhalese turamali , which means “stone of many colors”.
However, black tourmaline was known in Germany before the Renaissance, and it was called, as it is today, “schorl”. Its magmatic formation took place in rocks composed of large crystals and beautiful colors. The search for the most beautiful tourmalines is therefore very popular.
Most of the stones come from Brazil, but also from Africa, Madagascar, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Russia, and more recently, for black tourmaline, from China.
Tourmalines are recognized by the shape of their crystals in length. Their chemical composition varies depending on the stone, despite a constant with aluminum and silicon, but we notice that the number of atoms is always a multiple of three. Black tourmaline will thus be the only one to be rich in iron.
This is the protective stone par excellence, in particular because it contains iron capable of strengthening the immune system, the nervous system and eliminating everything negative from the body. It also contributes to good brain functions. Green tourmaline, like rose, will be useful for all cardiac functions.

Black tourmaline will be used to keep a person grounded during treatment.
